Why won't my digital camera work after I put in new batteries?

I put new batteries in my Kodak Digital Camera and it won’t turn on. I know for a fact that the batteries are good (AA) and I tried two different sets and neither seem to be working. Help!

First check the polarity; that’s a common & easily corrected fix. I used to be in the profession & had a small studio & I can’t tell you how many times a battery can get switched around. If that & the batteries are ok then I’d look into the battery terminal of the camera itself. If batteries had been kept there for an extended time they sometimes ‘discharge’ or leak a greenish corrosive onto the battery terminals. That too is easy to correct if it is there; just take a pencil erasure & GENTLY ‘erase’ the corrosive, (make sure to carefully blow out the erasure shavings afterward.) It works pretty well if the corrosion isn’t too pronounced.
If all that fails to get your camera to turn on you might need to have it professionally checked by a camera repair shop.
Hope that helps.

The batteries have to be be at least alkalines. The best you can use are Energizer Lithiums. If you decide to get rechargeables, get the highest maH rating you can afford for longer lasting power.
If the camera still won’t turn on after putting in a new set of batteries, then there is something wrong with the camera itself. More oftenly, it is cheaper to buy a new one rather than have the old one fixed.
